Embodying our raison d'être in a new eco-designed building
Discover La Ruche
November 2025: La Ruche opens its doors. 6,790 m² spread over four levels. A central atrium bathed in light. A reinvented space for the 300 employees who work there.
More than just a building, La Ruche embodies our vision of tomorrow’s way of working: fostering cooperation and encouraging interaction, improving the quality of life at work.
A place that reflects who we are, that reflects the expertise of the Group’s brands, that embodies our raison d’être and gives concrete expression to our Positive Impact strategy.
Promoting well-being and collaboration
Positive Social Impact
In 2021, following the Covid experiment with new ways of working, we are launching the Inspiring Working Spaces project with a clear ambition: to fundamentally rethink all our workspaces.
La Ruche was born out of this conviction: a workplace that looks like us, that improves collective performance and quality of life at work, and that reflects our commitment to the environment.
At the heart of the building, a spacious, light-filled atrium structures the four levels and creates opportunities for spontaneous exchanges between teams, as they see each other and cross paths. The space is designed to facilitate conversation.
The workspaces are multi-functional and can be adapted to individual needs. Need to think alone? Quiet, enclosed spaces allow you to concentrate. Need to work together? Fully-equipped rooms make it easy to work together. Need an informal exchange? The floors are dotted with meeting places and workcafés – hybrid places where you can work and take a break.
This diversity of spaces responds to a conviction: work is not uniform, and neither should the spaces.
The connection to the outdoors, in the heart of the Alsace plain, is also part of this approach to well-being. Around La Ruche, 13,000m2 of landscaped areas create a real bubble of biodiversity. Orchards, vegetable gardens, walks, sports fields: the outdoors soothes, refreshes, stimulates or renews the energy of each individual. The staff canteen, open to the outside world, is an extension of this approach.
Working at the heart of industry
La Ruche was built in the immediate vicinity of the Sélestat industrial site.
It’s a workplace rooted in industrial reality, where the support teams are just a few hundred metres from the production lines. This physical proximity facilitates cooperation, speeds up decision-making and serves as a daily reminder that the support functions are at the service of production.
Mobilising local businesses
Positive Economic Impact
Most of the construction work was carried out by local companies. 90% of the companies chosen to construct and fit out the building are located less than 41 kilometres from La Ruche.
As with all our suppliers, we have always applied the principle of local roots: first local, then regional, then national.
By getting Alsatian companies to work for us, we are directly supporting the economic dynamism of our region.
This proximity also has very tangible benefits, such as reduced transport costs, greater responsiveness when needed, and direct contact with our partners.
Sober and efficient construction
Positive Environmental Impact
Designed to the Passivhaus standard, the building aims to guarantee optimum comfort while keeping operating costs under control. Its compactness has been carefully designed to limit heat loss, while its wide glazed façades and large glass roof maximise natural solar gain.
Every technical choice is designed to reduce the building’s environmental footprint throughout its life cycle.
The wooden structure, sourced from French forests, is a biosourced and renewable material that stores carbon rather than emitting it.
The green roof naturally regulates temperatures, retains rainwater and encourages biodiversity.
A glass roof maximises natural light and reduces the need for artificial lighting.
Triple glazing limits heat loss.
High-efficiency (84%) dual-flow ventilation recovers heat from extracted air to preheat incoming air.
Geocooling uses the coolness of the ground to cool the building in summer, without the need for energy-intensive air conditioning.
As at all our other sites, heating is provided by a system that uses our wood waste.
Intelligent LED lighting adapts to presence and natural light to consume only what is strictly necessary.
La Ruche complies strictly with theeco-construction approach and standards.
Outside, the landscaped grounds create islands of biodiversity and contribute to the site’s natural thermal regulation. Each tree planted contributes to carbon sequestration. Each planted surface limits run-off and encourages water infiltration.
The result is a building that is energy-efficient, comfortable for users and consistent with our environmental commitments.
