Bringing a new sense of wonder to industrial trades
Schmidt Group Campus
Schmidt Groupe is continuing to pursue its aim ofpromotingcareers in industry and making them an attractive career path forfuture generationsthrough the Schmidt Groupe Campus, an organisation dedicated to supporting, training and fostering the inclusion of work-study students and trainees. This project is fully aligned with the Group’s “Positive Impact” approach, and more specifically with its social pillar, which aims to build a more equitable, inclusive and intergenerational society.
One ambition: to make industry attractive and inclusive
As industrial careers are undergoing transformation and the expectations ofGenerations Z and Alphaare changing,Schmidt Groupe is rethinking the principles of apprenticeship and skills transfer. TheSchmidt Groupe Campus aimsto attract, train and retain the talent of tomorrow by combining purpose, innovation and expertise.
A strategic tool for skills transfer and training
Established in 2024, the SchmidtGroupe Campus does not mark the start of initiatives to promote apprenticeships, but rather the commitment to structure and embody a strategic mission: that of making work-based learning a genuine driver of sustainable performance. Led by an intergenerational and multidisciplinary team, Schmidt Groupe Campus works in close collaboration with schools, universities, vocational training centres (CFAs) and public institutions.
Its work is based on three main areas:
- Attracting young talentfrom secondary school onwards through engaging programmes designed to introducethemto different careers.
- Supporting and training work-study studentsthrough innovative initiatives (Welcome Days, diversity and inclusion workshops, mentor training, widespread individual interviews, an introduction to theatre, partnerships with prestigious higher education institutions, etc.).
- Retaining staff and passing on knowledgeby recognising the role of mentors, encouraging the sharing of experience and developing the skills of young employees.
A vision for the future
Beyond the company itself, the Schmidt Groupe Campus helps to enhance the appeal of the Alsace region and promote local industrial sectors by sharing its best practices at events, round-table discussions and webinars. The results are promising, and the 55 per cent Net Promoter Score (NPS) for work-study students reflects a strong commitment and a successful experience.
Building on the Campus’s success, the Schmidt Group aims to expand its initiative by reaching out to younger children, starting in primary school, to stimulate curiosity and spark an interest in technical and industrial careers. The long-term aim is to become the leading industrial player in apprenticeship management.
