Where we come from
In 1934, Hubert Schmidt set up his own construction company.
Listening to his customers and concerned about their well-being in their homes, he began equipping his houses with kitchen buffets.Soon, sideboards were replacing houses completely, because they allowed people to be at the heart of their lives, to live better. Then fitted kitchens took over, to better adapt to the desires of each customer. The customisation of the home is on the move. Today, we create living spaces for every room in the house.
From the outset, two values have run through everything we do: trust and respect.Trust in the men and women of the entire Extended Enterprise, from suppliers to customers. Respect for commitments, people and the environment.
What guides us
Be the best, respect each other, succeed together
Written in 1986 by Antonia Schmidt, Karl Leitzgen and their colleagues, this philosophy still guides us every day, in our decision-making, in the way we all act and in our vision of management.
This is what makes the Schmidt Groupe unique: a sincere commitment to doing things right. To have a positive impact on our entire ecosystem, on the planet and all its inhabitants.
Being the best doesn’t mean being the biggest, the richest or the most visible. It’s about our sincere commitment to doing things right. To do things better, fairer and more sustainably. That’s what we strive for every day.

Our ambition is to enable everyone to live better on the planet. We want to contribute to the pleasure of being at home, with furniture for sustainable, inspiring and inspiring living spaces. We want to act faster and harder. We are relentless and uncompromising in our efforts to preserve and regenerate our natural resources.
That’s why we exist: to create living spaces that are sustainable, inspiring and inspired.
It’s a raison d’être that we share with the 8,600 men and women of the Extended Enterprise.
In practical terms, this means :
- Creating inspiring living spaces for our customers, employees and partners – places where people feel good, where they want to live.
